Stella & Dot

Last night I ventured out to a Stella & Dot jewelry party. If you've never heard of it, it's basically like AVON or Mary Kay but jewelry. Independent women sell the stuff and make a comission, and then the host of the party gets a certain percentage of jewelry free depending on the total sales of the party. Now I have never been to one of these parties, but any excuse for some yummy appetizers, wine (lots and lots of wine) and a night out with only other adults? Yes please!

They have some really beautiful jewelry, and lots of it was vintage looking which I love, the only problem was the price tag. I mean there wasn't hardly anything below the $40 price point. Which is unfortunate because with that much wine in me, it took every fiber of my being not to buy just about everything. I understand they have to mark it up so high so the host and the sales lady can get something out of it, but it still made me feel a little awkward and guilty that I didn't purchase anything. Thank goodness for wine. Did I mention there was wine there?

Up until my attendance at this party I had thought about selling it. It's in my fashion field, it would look good on my resume (so that I'm not doing nothing for years) and I wouldn't have to send my kids to daycare. My only hesitation is that I only know so many people which probably only half I could con into having a party, so I'm not sure how long I would actually be able to make money at it. I really just want to make a couple extra bucks a month for things like pre-school (for those of you non-parents reading... pre-school is EXPENSIVE), or for gymnastics lessons or things like that. Thoughts? Can I con all of you into throwing a party? Let me know becuase that might swing my decision into actually doing this!!

Oh you could totally con me into having a party! I LOVE that stuff! Do you even live in KC anymore though?
