7 months

I can't believe my sweet baby Hadley is 7 months old today! What a big girl. Today has been rough for her though, not the ideal way to spend the anniversary of your birth if you ask me. Last Thursday she started running a fever, never fun for anyone. By Saturday morning it had reached 102.7 (adding a degree that's 103.7 = danger zone). So into the doctor we went. Poor girl had a UTI. I didn't even know babies could get that, but apparently it's not uncommon. So they gave her some shots (never fun) of antibiotic and we had to go back on Sunday. She checked out good, and they prescribed her an oral antibiotic to finish clearing it up. Fast forward to yesterday, I get a phone call that the antibiotic was the wrong kind, so we had to get a different one. There goes $10 down the drain. They also informed us we would have to have her x-rayed to make sure her kidneys and bladder were not infected. So into the hospital we go. Can we say traumatizing? I have to help hold her down while the put in a cathater. OUCH. Then I have to hold her still while this black sticky stuff goes up into her bladder/kidneys so they can see if there's any problems. It took 20 mintues. TWENTY MINUTES. Now in normal people time, that's not long, but in baby time that's an eternity. Poor girl screamed her lungs out. It was very traumatizing for the both of us.

But to end on a positive note, 1) we made it to 7 months, yay! 2) Out pediatrician is open on the weekends and most importantly 3) Hadley girl is AOK! Thank God.

Should I be worried?

Gracen and Hadley sharing a room = beautiful. It means I can finally not worry about waking Hadley up in our room when I toss and turn at night. Yes I'm a mover. TMI? Anyhoo back to the point. The girls sharing a room has so far been awesome. Hadley sleeps so much better, I think it's becuase of the noise maker (we were too cheap to buy a second one for our bedroom) but who knows for sure. Our only problem seems to be that Hadley goes to bed around 7 or 7:30, and then Gracen goes down around 8 or 8:30. But the past couple nights Gracen has gone to bed and talks/sings to herself. Now at first I was all oh thats so cute! But now I'm all paranoid she's going to wake up Hadley, and I would not be happy. My real question is, should I be worried she's talking to herself? Haha, I'm not seriously concerned, I just think it's funny. Hopefully it's not a sign of things to come!

The Great Outdoors

Today was a beautiful day. Not hot, not cool and no breeze. A perfect 60 degrees. So we took the girls outside, and got out all of their "outside" toys from the shed.

Perfect-minus the goldfish crackers in her mouth

Hadley girl swinging on the porch for the first time... I think she liked it

Farewell fine friend

Another one of my favorite shows has come to an end. And it's a sad day for me becuase I have yet to find something to replace it.

It started off with Kath & Kim. Now I know a lot of people didn't enjoy the show (probably why it got cancelled) but I mean come on, how can you resist lines such as "I didn't sign up for cooking dinner or being interested in how anyone's day was. I'm a trophy wife!"

Seriously just looking at them makes me laugh

Once Kath & Kim was cancelled I replaced my self-absorbed character love with Andrea from Samantha Who. Now I know a lot more people enjoyed this show, so I'm still wondering why this gem got cancelled. This line is one of my favs: "I love these giant mugs, the make my hands look so tiny!" And I will state I loved this show for multiple reasons, Christina Applegate is one of my all time favorite actresses, and I love Barry Watson. So as long as they ended up together, my heart isn't quite as broken.

I am already missing you beautiful wardrobe

My life is complete, they end up together, thank goodness!

Once I no longer had Samantha Who to get my self-absorbed character fix, enter Ugly Betty. Now the show itself, wasn't necessarily 5 star in my book. However Amanda and Marc made watching the entire hour a must every week. Oh how I will miss their antics. And the duo together was all the more entertaining.

I mean really look at him, how could you not be entertained?

Oh how I miss those faces already!

Oh how I will miss your inappropriateness!

So I salute you all self-absorbed characters and you will all be dearly missed until I can find a replacement. Any suggestions would be helpful! (Disclaimer- I do not have cable so it will need to be on a main channel, aka ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, CW etc.)

Crown Center

I pink puffy heart Crown Center. Although it is exhausting everytime we go down there, it is still always fun. And so kid oriented. This past weekend we went down there for fairytale village. It was an interactive play place where all the fiarytales came to life. Gracen had a hay day. Ms. Hollywood loved running around it, it was hard to snap a picture of her looking at the camera becuase she was too busy playing. Aunt Nanie and Uncle Matt so kindly accompanied us, and it's a good thing too I wouldnt have been able to handle it with both girls.

Gracen also got to play with the puppies! Yay for having Aunts with puppies, so we can prolong getting one. Baxter is her new bestie. She loved bossing him around and having him follow her everywhere!

So thanks for a great weekend Aunt Nanie!

Ms. Hollywood herself crossing the bridge

We missed taking a pic with Cinderella by a hair, so we took one ourselves!

Her senior pic moment out by the fountains

We ate dinner at Fritz's, and she loved the phone and watching the trains deliver the food

She really wanted to run through the fountains, but it was too cold.. maybe next time!

Playing fetch with Baxter, I'm surprised she could pick up that huge stick!

Happy Birthday Gracen! (Part One)

April 1 was Gracen's 2nd birthday!! I can hardly believe my sweet little princess is 2 years old and we've all survived! Easter weekend we had a little party for her at my Dad's house since my Grandma, Aunt and Uncle and cousin would all be in town for Matt's weekend. She got so many awesome new toys, including books, a dollhouse, legos, and a piano/xylophone (no idea how to spell that!). It was such a jam packed weekend, it's taken me 4 posts to get it all in!

A Barbie 4 wheeler from Mom and Dad

Her doll house from Aunt Jaime, Aunt Nanie and Uncle Matt (we had these when we were kids and LOVED them!)

Wondering why her cupcake has to be so far away from her

She ate all the yummy raspberry frosting, but wasn't a fan of the actual cupcake! haha

Happy Birthday Gracen Marie!!!

Happy Easter!

What wonderful weather this Easter, such a blessing! The girls had such a great time with everyone, especially getting to see Great Aunt Diane, and Great Grandma Comer. Gracen loooved all the goodies in her Easter basket, and would even keep an eye on Hadley's haha. Just wait until Hadley can defend her stuff!

Checkin out her Easter goodies (the Easter bunny done good!)

Gracen's in the background eyeing Hadley's basket haha

Not such a fan of her ears and glasses!

Gracen got to experience her first Easter egg hunt! She loved it, as well as all the attention. Since Hadley's too little, it was just her. There tons of easter eggs to find, and each one was filled with a couple M&M's or jelly beans. After finding all the eggs she promptly sat down on the patio and all I heard was "Mama open!" She knew what was inside! Sometimes she's too smart for her own good!

Found an egg!

Enjoying the fruits of her labor!

The adults (my siblings, myself and our significant others) all had an Easter egg hunt of our own, love getting Russell Stover's chocolate bunnies and money! It was quite humorous. Although there are no pictures of that because obviously I was involved. We haven't done an Easter egg hunt in quite sometime, but it was a ton of fun.

On the agenda for next year, is definitely Easter egg dying! We didn't have time to do it this year, but that's ok becuase I think Gracen is still a little young, and there might have been quite a mess at Papa's house that he didn't appreciate!

Easter Mass

On Saturday, Matt (my future brother in law) joined the Catholic Church. Now, I have never been to the Mass where they do this, mostly because my parents knew how long it was, and having 4 kids didn't want to try and make us behave through it. They had a tough enough time with us during the regular one hour Masses.

So as you can imagine I was a little worried with a 2 year old and a 6 month old making it through a 2 hour Mass that started at 7, that we would be going to after a family dinner at 5. For you non-math wizard's out there trying to get my 2 kids to sit still and behave for 4 hours, when bed time is 8, sometimes earlier, sounded like we were in for a rough time. I'd like you to know, that we were pleasantly surprised.

Hadley and Great Aunt Diane at dinner

The crucifix that we bought Matt

Dinner was a little rough, we met a bunch of our extended family there, and Gracen has some difficulty sitting in her chair and not touching everything on the table. But she was a champ, and ate really well (surprisingly). On the way to the Church both girls fell asleep. This could be good, or this could be bad. We got there about 30 minutes early so that we could sit in the front and see Matt. So Gabe stayed in the car with the sleepers, and the rest of us went in and saved a couple seats. We brought the girls in about 5 till, and I could tell Gracen was still super tired, and the little princess sat down next to me, laid her head on my lap, and slept the entire first hour. Bless her. Hadley did well, wasn't too fussy, but wanted someone to hold her standing up. We sat by the choir so I knew it would be too loud for her to sleep, but luckily they both behaved with flying colors. It was hard to believe they were my children!

Overall it was neat to watch, but super long, once is good for me, we will be back to regular Easter Mass.
Unfortunately we got no good pictures of the girls in their super cute matching dresses, sweaters and shoes. But don't you worry they will wear them again and there will be plenty o photos!

Welcome to the Church Matthew-Matthew!

Puppy play date

As I mentioned earlier, Gracen is desperate for a puppy. But since it's not in the budget, and just not a priority right now, we had a puppy play date!

Chase me puppy!

Aunt Jaime came to town for Easter, and brought her puppy with her. So last Thursday she came to Topeka for Gracen's birthday and brought the puppy to play! Gracen ate it up. They chased each other in the back yard for quite some time, and wore each other out. That morning the puppy had a play date with Aunt Nanie's puppy, so Gigi (Jaime's puppy) was already worn out and the poor thing just wanted to sleep. That did not stop Gracen. She was all about the hugs and kisses and did get nipped a couple of times. That didn't stop her. And on a side note it was her fault, she likes to pull tails and squeeze a little too hard. Another reason it's not quite time for a puppy! Needless to say hopefully she got her puppy fix. If not, we're headed to KC this weekend and she'll get plenty of play time with Aunt Nanie's puppy Scout. Here's a few pix from the adventure, soo fun to watch. Good thing we have a fenced in yard!

It was unfortunately super windy

Showin the puppy some love

Hadley wasn't quite sure what to think of the puppy, another excuse to wait to get one!

Photo Shoot

The girls are getting so big, it was time for another photo shoot on Friday. I LOVE Portrait Innovations. I have never once been dissapointed, and we've gone there MANY times. This time we tried to get a good shot of the 2 of them together. Neither of them wanted to cooperate very well when they were being shot together, but of course there were a ton of awesome individual photos, which of course wasn't what we were looking for. Here are the best 2 that we got.
